How sweepstakes casinos work, explained simply
They look like online casinos, but by law they are promotions. That one fact explains the two coins, the free way in and why they welcome guests in 36 states.
See the casinos18+ (21+ in some states). No purchase necessary. Two coins, two purposes
Every sweepstakes casino runs on two currencies. Gold Coins are play money. You receive a large supply, you can buy more, and they are only for enjoyment; they never become cash. Sweepstakes Coins are the promotional coins. You cannot buy them. You receive them free on arrival, as daily bonuses, as a gift with a Gold Coin purchase or by sending a request by post. Prizes won with Sweepstakes Coins can be redeemed for money or gift cards.
Because there is always a free way to receive the coins that can win prizes, the law treats the whole thing as a sweepstakes, in the same way as a prize draw on a product.
What happens during a stay
Name, date of birth, email and your state. The welcome gift arrives once you confirm your email or phone.
Every game has a switch for Gold or Sweepstakes mode. Choose Sweepstakes if a prize is the aim.
The gift must be played through once (sometimes twice) and a minimum balance, usually 50, is needed to redeem.
Show ID the first time, then request. Our reviews say how long each house took to deliver.
Do you ever have to pay?
No. You can enjoy every house on the list without buying anything. Guests who do spend money buy Gold Coin bundles for extra play, and the free Sweepstakes Coins that come with those bundles are a courtesy rather than the product.
If you decide to buy, treat it as the price of an evening out. Set a limit before you begin and keep to it. Our play well page lists the tools available and a free helpline.
